Truffles
Truffles is a 19 year old American Quarter Horse mare who joined The Shane Center in September of 2021. Truffles is a gift from Serenity Farm. Her birthday is June 6, 2005 and has lived in Maryland, Illinois, and Ohio. Truffles is so sweet, gentle and well-trained and is quickly becoming a favorite among our students and volunteers.
Brie
Brie is a 20 year old Belgian x Quarter Horse cross mare who joined The Shane Center in September of 2021. Brie is a gift from Serenity Farm and her actual birthday is unknown. She spent time prior to becoming a therapeutic riding horse as a lesson horse at a hunter/jumper barn. Brie is kind-hearted, eager to please, and sweet as sugar! We are so blessed to have her as part of our program!
Jethro
Jethro is a 18 year old miniature donkey who joined us a program mascot in late 2014. He loves, loves, loves children! Despite his small stature, he holds his own with the big horses. We will be teaching him natural horsemanship so he can attend events and functions.
Maggie
Maggie, aka Magical Lights WRF, is an 22 year old Haflinger on loan to us from the Ingalls family. Her birthday is January 31, 2002. Maggie comes to us with a lifetime of experience as a show horse both in 4-H and the Haflinger circuit. She is a girly-girl and LOVES to be hugged, doted over, kissed, and all things bright pink! If you find the right spot to scratch, she will even kiss you back! We are blessed and honored to be able to have her serve our riders. Maggie is quite a gem!
Albert
Albert is a 18 year old Haflinger gelding who was purchased by The Shane Center in April 2021. Albert’s purchase was made possible through a very generous grant from the Youth Philanthropy Initiate of the Knox County Foundation! Albert’s birthday is April 3,2006 and he has lived in Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri before relocating to Ohio. This big cuddle bug stands at 15 hands and 1000 lbs. His favorite word is “WHOA”!
Stevie
Stevie is a 27 year old Fjord gelding who was born in Canada. He was purchased in 2010 thanks to a foundation grant. Stevie is also trained to drive. He is almost as wide as he is tall and weighs about 1300 lbs. His calm, very gentle nature makes him a favorite here at Willow Farm. Stevie was born on April 24, 1997.
Toby
Toby is a 26 year old Norwegian Fjord gelding who joined our program in December of 2012. Toby and Knut are half brothers. Several generous donors made it possible for the program to purchase these beautiful horses. Toby is sensitive, friendly, fun-loving and very gentle. His birthday is April 17, 1998. Since it is hard to tell him apart from Knut, we have shaved a heart onto his hindquarters.
Knut
Knut is a 26 year old Norwegian Fjord gelding who joined our program in December of 2012. Several generous donors made it possible for the program to purchase these brothers. Knut is sensitive, friendly, fun-loving and very gentle. His birthday is April 19, 1998.
Lightning Bolt
Lightning Bolt is a 33 year old POA (Pony of Americas) gelding who has been with our program for the past 14 years. He is worth his weight in gold! Although cute as a button and gentle enough for our tiniest riders he holds his own with the big horses. We like to think of his as our "little big man".
The Shane Center is home to several other horses belonging to our Executive Director, and staff.
