Swing into Spring with Jethro!

Dear Shane Center Family & Friends,

We are excited to invite you to participate in our Swing into Spring with Jethro event for 2021! This is a walk/run/roll/ride-a-thon fundraiser to help you get moving and enjoy some outdoor time this the spring.

This is how it works:

  1. Enter by March 16 so we can have your T Shirt available for you by April 1
  2. Choose your mode of exercise: walking, running, rolling in your wheelchair, or riding your horse or bicycle and what you want to track (# laps, # miles, # minutes, # rides, etc.)
  3. Gather pledges or a flat donation from your friends, family, co-workers, your employer, your Facebook friends, etc.
  4. Swing into Spring and exercise the entire month of April. Be sure to post your updates on social media, show off your cool t shirt, and encourage others to get involved! Be sure to tag your posts with #ShaneCenter for a chance to be featured on The Shane Center’s social media pages
  5. Turn your pledge sheet and pledges in by May 7 (or have your sponsors make their donation through one of our easy and convenient payment portals)
  6. You will earn a certificate of completion and compete for prizes! The top prize is a $100 Visa Gift Card!

Our goal this year is to raise $6,000, which is very doable. If we get 20 people to participate and each one pays a $40 entry fee and then gathers at least $280 in pledges, we will easily reach our goal! All proceeds from this event will be used to help children and adults in our community improve their physical fitness, motor skills, and self-esteem; encourage fun, friendship, and responsibility; and build core strength and balance, character and confidence, as well as social skills and communication.

This event will help The Shane Center improve the quality of life for people with disabilities through innovative equestrian activities. Funds from this event will assist with the following:

  • Purchasing equine supplies like fly spray, grooming tools, buckets, etc.
  • Providing grain and hay for our horses.
  • Replacing worn out riding equipment like toe stoppers and reins.
  • Paying for overhead costs like the telephone, internet, electricity, etc.

The Shane Center is central Ohio’s original therapeutic riding program AND the only program in Knox County who is a Premier Accredited Center through PATH International (The Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship). We offer innovative equestrian activities that are life-changing for our participants with disabilities.

Since its inception, no client has ever been denied services due to their financial circumstances. In order to achieve our mission and provide services in our community, we rely on the generosity of individuals,
businesses, and foundations for support.

The Shane Center serves individuals who have a variety of disabilities, and range in age from 5 to adult. Our programs include Therapeutic Riding, Horsin’ Around, and Shane’s Cavalry. Our instruction goes far beyond
riding as we teach all of our students the basics of horse care, with an emphasis on safety and handling horses on the ground.

Your support will play a key role in success of The Shane Center in 2021. Please fill out the entry form and email or mail it to The Shane Center. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at The Shane Center, 740-625-9324, or on my cell, 740-398-2239, or email, karen@shanecenter.org.

PLEASE HELP US SPREAD THE WORD! Thank you!
